Grass Fed Beef, 24 x 36“ oil painting on stretched canvas. Lots of brushstrokes and texture in this painting. Beautiful of close and far away. Definite conversational piece. Add a bit of color and interest in any room.

Grass Fed Beef is meant to be a bit ironic as this is a self portrait and I am a vegetarian. You could say that in fact, I am the grass fed beef, as I only primarily eat vegetables. However, she is picking heart flowers. It has been said that plants have feelings and sensations, so you could say that all plants are rooted in their own cage, waiting to be served.

My purpose in painting this is to cause thought for actions that we make. She is picking hearts, but will she give the hearts away or keep them to herself. Will, she keep growing the hearts around her and watch them flourish or eventually destroy every one of them? The goal is to survive, but sometimes when we try to survive, we end up destroying ourselves even more.

I like to believe that life and love, always prevail and good eventually dominates bad. Sometimes it doesn’t feel that way because growth is slow, but eventually growth is inevitable if there is a glimmer of light in the darkness.
